The NBA-leading Minnesota Timberwolves (16-4) clinched their fifth consecutive victory by holding off the San Antonio Spurs (3-17) with a final score of 102-94 on Wednesday night.

Rudy Gobert’s dominant performance, boasting 16 points and an impressive 21 rebounds, anchored the Timberwolves’ triumph, while Mike Conley contributed 18 points, Anthony Edwards added 17, and Naz Reid chipped in with 15. Karl-Anthony Towns secured a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The matchup featured a notable showdown between Rudy Gobert and his French compatriot, rookie Victor Wembanyama, in Wembanyama’s first game in Minnesota.

Despite the anticipation, Wembanyama struggled against the Timberwolves’ height advantage, managing only 12 points on 4-of-13 shooting along with 10 rebounds. The veteran Gobert’s presence, combined with Towns and Reid, proved challenging for the young rookie.

Devin Vassell led the Spurs’ offensive efforts with 22 points, supported by Keldon Johnson’s 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Zach Collins contributing 12 points.
