Dusko Ivanovic’s departure from Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade during the early EuroLeague season raised eyebrows, despite the team’s 1-3 start.

Notably, the losses were close contests rather than clear blowouts.

Simultaneously, Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz parted ways with Joan Penarroya after a five-game losing streak in both EuroLeague and Liga Endesa.

In a swift turn of events, Ivanovic returned to Spain to coach Baskonia, a team he had previously led in three separate stints.

Reflecting on his departure from the Serbian team and the rapid move to Baskonia, the Montenegrin coach shared his perspective.

“I was surprised by the dismissal from Crvena Zvezda,” Ivanovic said. “I did not expect it. So the negotiations with Baskonia came unexpectedly.”

Regardless, the coach is ready for a new adventure in Spain.

“I’m very happy to be here again, this is my club, my city. When they invited me to come, I didn’t hesitate. I have the same enthusiasm as always,” the coach said with positive emotions.
