NBA legend Paul Pierce couldn’t contain his enthusiasm after witnessing the NBA debut of Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama, hailing the French prodigy’s potential for unprecedented success in his rookie year.

Despite limited playing time due to foul trouble, the 19-year-old center showcased his skills, tallying an impressive 15 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals during his 23 minutes on the court.

“I was thoroughly impressed… This guy, in my opinion, he can be the Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year all in the same year… He has that type of potential,” Pierce said on Undisputed, via ClutchPoints.

This isn’t the first time Pierce has lauded Wembanyama, previously dubbing the rookie a ‘top 5 skill player’ in the league, a testament to the burgeoning star’s impact even in the early stages of his NBA journey.
