Denver Nuggets general manager, Calvin Booth, openly discussed his approach to constructing the roster since assuming the role two seasons ago.

Booth emphasized the importance of achieving a balance, particularly in terms of offense and defense. This pursuit of equilibrium prompted a trade last season.

Regarding the trade involving young guard Bones Hyland, Booth attributed the decision to a combination of defensive and financial considerations.

He pointed out that there was significant redundancy in having both Hyland and Michael Porter Jr. on the roster.

“I knew you couldn’t have two guys that couldn’t guard, and we couldn’t have two guys that were young and kind of more ‘me guys,’” Booth said.

“Mike makes $30 million. He’s one of the best shooters in the NBA. So, Bones, there’s no place for you.”
