Giannis Antetokounmpo’s decision not to extend with the Milwaukee Bucks this offseason has raised eyebrows and financial questions.

During Media Day, the two-time MVP candidly stated that the difference amounted to “a lot of money” and affirmed his intention to sign the extension next year.

Adding context to this statement, Marc Stein explained that if Antetokounmpo had extended immediately, the Bucks could only offer a three-year contract worth $169 million.

However, by postponing the extension until after the season, Giannis becomes eligible for a four-year deal anticipated to surpass $230 million.

Antetokounmpo’s choice to wait potentially secures a significantly larger payday in the near future.
