As Anthony Davis’ eligibility for an extension starts, NBA Front Office Insider Bobby Marks provided insights into the Lakers star’s options.

Reports suggest that the Lakers are keen to sign Davis to a lucrative 3-year max extension worth a staggering $170 million, showcasing their strong interest in securing his future with the franchise.

Currently on a 5-year, $190 million contract that extends through the 2024-25 season, the 30-year-old power forward has garnered significant attention for his performances on the court during the 2022-23 season, where he averaged 25.9 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.

As Marks highlighted, Davis has two main choices for his extension. He can opt to sign a 3-year deal starting in the 2025-26 season, worth $169 million, providing financial security and continuity with the Lakers.

Alternatively, he can decide to wait and explore the potential of a more significant payday. Waiting until October 23 would allow him to become an unrestricted free agent, possibly leading to a five-year deal worth $304 million or a four-year contract worth $214 million if he signs with a team possessing cap space.
