As Canada’s national basketball team gears up for the FIBA World Cup, the excitement is palpable, with a roster boasting top-notch NBA talents, including the prominent presence of Jamal Murray.

However, Murray’s availability for the prestigious tournament remains in question, as Team Canada’s management closely monitors his recovery and workload.

Throughout the training camp, the 26-year-old point guard’s participation will be subject to careful evaluation by the medical team. The priority remains safeguarding his health and making an informed choice that considers his long-term career and overall well-being.

“It’s a process… My body and my pace is a little different than everyone else’s so I’m just trying to keep cool and stick to my jump shot right now. I can rely on that always,” Murray said when asked by Josh Lewenberg if he expects to play at FIBA World Cup.

Last season, Murray played a pivotal role in guiding the Denver Nuggets to their first-ever NBA championship, delivering impressive stats with an average of 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game during the 2022-23 season.
