It has been more than a month since Damian Lillard expressed his desire to be traded from the Trail Blazers, with a clear preference to join the Heat.

While talks between the two teams have been ongoing, no deal has been reached yet. However, there have been concerns that the NBA might intervene and veto the trade, as it wants to discourage the trend of superstars forcing their way out of teams.

Lillard’s trade request has put immense pressure on Portland to find a suitable deal with Miami, but so far, the Heat have been unable to meet the Blazers’ expectations. The situation escalated further when Lillard’s agent informed other teams that his client would not be willing to play for them if traded elsewhere.

However, recent reports suggest that the NBA is unlikely to veto the trade. According to a league source quoted by Sean Deveney of Heavy.com, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has no plans to intervene in the trade negotiations. This means that Lillard’s request to move to Miami is still on the table.
