Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia has sparked excitement among fans by hinting at an upcoming announcement regarding the team’s new G League affiliate.
During a recent interview on Arizona Sports 98.7 with Burns & Gambo, Ishbia expressed the organization’s dedication to investing in both the team and its future prospects.
Ishbia tantalizingly stated, “That won’t be something you’ll be talking about in a week or two, how about that?” (h/t Damon Allred of The Bright Side of the Sun). He emphasized the importance of a G League team and its role in nurturing and developing young talent.
Since the sale of the Northern Arizona Suns in 2020, the Phoenix Suns have not had a G League affiliate. However, with Ishbia’s commitment to investing in the team’s growth, the Suns are poised to fill that void and further strengthen their player development pipeline.
