The Dallas Mavericks remain active and looking to cut another of their ties this offseason.

Sources told Marc Stein that the Mavs aren’t planning to retain Theo Pinson. They are also expected to ship away Tim Hardaway Jr., and either release or trade JaVale McGee.

Hardaway Jr. has been the focal marksman of the Mavericks since he joined them in 2018-19. But the fact that he has a hefty $34MM left in his contract for the next two years, added by the franchise’s needs to cater the newly acquired Seth Curry and sophomore guard Jaden Hardy, his time in Dallas is absolutely ticking.

Meanwhile, McGee served as one of the failed 2022 offseason products of the Mavericks. Afte inking the big man to a three-year, $17MM contract, McGee didn’t level himself to his salary as he only averaged career lows in 4.4 points and 2.5 boards for 42 games.

With the Mavs looking for a fresh start, dumping both Hardaway Jr. and McGee may open them up in acquiring much reliable players and key assets to prepare for the season of emergence this upcoming 2023-24.
