According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, the Lakers entertained the idea of selecting Cam Whitmore with their No. 17 pick in the NBA Draft.

Despite Whitmore, who was projected as a lottery pick, slipping to No. 20 where the Rockets ultimately drafted him, no team made a move to acquire him.

The Lakers, however, ultimately decided to go with Jalen Hood-Schifino out of Indiana, considering him a more reliable choice.

Whitmore, an 18-year-old standout from Villanova, averaged an impressive 12.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in his freshman season.
