The future of James Harden remains uncertain. He is yet to make a decision on whether to exercise his player option for the 2023-2024 season.

It is widely thought that the 76ers and the Rockets are the two options that Harden is choosing between. However, Ramona Shelbourne of ESPN says there might be a serious third option – the Suns.

She points out that Phoenix deciding to waive Chris Paul is a sign that the team has already picked a replacement which could be Harden.

“[The Phoenix Suns don’t waive Chris Paul] unless they feel pretty good about somebody else,” Shelbourne said, via HoopsHype. “And I want you to keep your eye on James Harden. I don’t want to report anything, but that was in the wind for the past month or so. Everybody thinks it’s like Philly or Houston but I don’t know, there has been discussions in the wind.”

Should he join the Suns, he would re-unite for the second with his former teammate Kevin Duran with whom he played in Oklahoma City and Brooklyn.

This past season Harden averaged 21 points, 6.1 rebounds and 10.7 assists in 36.8 minutes per game.
