D’Angelo Russell returned to the Lakers after six years at the trade deadline. The 27-year-old point was drafted by the Purple and Gold in 2015 and spent two years during his first spell in Los Angeles.

During the season-closing interview the player was asked to assess his time with the Lakers since re-joining the team in February.

“Complete success, honestly,” Russell said. “It’s been a great time, it’s been a great experience to come back and be in this position as prepared as I was. Give myself a pat on the back for that one.

“Being able to just adjust and just get thrown into the fire with the team and trying to figure it out on the fly and make it to the Western Conference Finals. Complete success. I really can’t complain about anything besides the ball going in when I wanted it to. But other than that, I enjoy my time and it was what it was.”

Russell averaged 17.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists in 30.9 minutes over 17 regular season games for the Lakers. His numbers in the playoffs were 13.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 29.6 minutes per game.
