Doc Rivers, who was fired by the 76ers recently, is considered one of the best coaches in the NBA. He also receives a fair share of criticism for failing to close out the series for a number of years now, including his days with the Clippers.

Former NBA star Rasheed Wallace, who was coached by Rivers for one year in Boston, thinks that the coach’s weak spot is that he does not make adjustments in crunch time.

“Glenn Rivers aka Glenn Shivers aka Glenn Quivers,” Sheed said on Underdog NBA podcast. “I have to agree with your statement. He doesn’t make adjustments. And that’s just from being in the locker room with him for that one season. And just again, I’m sitting back and I’m just looking and recognizing about everything.

“But man that seems to always be his biggest knock that he doesn’t make adjustments when it comes to crunch time. If his team is up significantly 15-20 points, then, okay, you don’t really have to coach then.

“But when you in the trenches, then you go on against another team and another good coach then hey it comes down to not just only your All-Star caliber players, but your All-Star caliber coaches as well. who can recognize ‘Okay, we need to block out more, we need to double this or do this, do that.’ But to me the adjustment thing is not there for him.”
