It has been reported that the Grizzlies will not offer an extension to Dillon Brooks and will let him walk as an unrestricted free agent.

Desmond Bane who has been Brooks’ teammate in Memphis for three years had nothing but good words to say about the 27-year-old forward/guard.

“First and foremost, we all got a bunch of love for Dillon,” Bane said about Brooks. “He’s one of the first guys and last guys to leave. I don’t think it’s hard to see what type of competitor he is and what type of effort he lays out on the line every night.

“Things like this happen. It’s part of the business. There ain’t no telling whether he’s going to back with us or with another team in the future.

“But regardless whatever happens, I wish him the best. I’ve seen him grow as a basketball player, a teammate, a father. He’s got a beautiful daughter. So whatever happens for him, I’m gonna be cheering. Hopefully it’s with us, but if not, I’ll be rooting for him as long as he’s not in the Western Conference.”

Brooks averaged 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 30.3 minutes per game this season.
