Sacramento Kings general manager Monte McNair was named as the recipient of the league’s Executive of the Year plum for this 2022-23 season, the NBA announced Wednesday.

McNair compiled 98 points, including 16 first-place votes. Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman came in as a lead runner-up with his 63 total points.

McNair is the architect of the Kings’ renaissance year, which all started from the hiring of Mike Brown from last offseason. Brown, who was named as the Coach of the Year for his part this season, guided Sacramento to a 48-win season with All-Star duo De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis led the way.

Under his watch, the Kings successfully managed to erase its 16-year playoff drought, and went on to push the defending world champion Golden State Warriors in seven games of their first-round encounter.

McNair already inked a contract extension with Sacramento last January, which means that he got plenty of time to work and further mold the franchise into its true winning potential.
