Otto Porter has picked up his player option with the Toronto Raptors for the 2023-24 season, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania. The player option allows the forward to earn a guaranteed $6.3 million.

Porter only managed to log eight games this 2022-23 as he underwent surgery on the dislocated toe of his left foot last January which kept him out for the remainder of the season. He averaged 5.5 points and 2.4 boards on the short campaign he had in his first season with Toronto.

The veteran inked a two-year, $12.3 million deal in last year’s offseason after elevating his value from the vital role he played in the Golden State Warriors’ 2022 title run. In his one-year stint with the Dubs, he averaged 8.2 points and 5.7 boards and served as a key bench unit with his shooting and versatility.

Following the head coaching dismissal of Nick Nurse, the Raptors are in an uncertain, yet interesting position on how they will approach their future following a disappointing run this year.
