Since he entered the NBA in 2018, Luka Doncic has been called out for being overweight. That didn’t prevent the Slovenian from becoming a superstar in the league.

NBA legend Reggie Miller thinks that the 24-year-old point guard needs to get in better shape so that the Mavericks could play faster, which how Jason Kidd likes his teams to play.

Miller pointed out that Dallas played faster with Kyrie Irving when Doncic was out with an injury.

Via Callie Caplan of Dallas Morning News:

“Luka Doncic has got to get in better shape,” Reggie Miller said. “They’ve got to run more, and I think they did that when Luka was out and Kyrie was at the helm because they’re much better when they play faster. That’s how Jason Kidd wants to coach. He wants them to play faster, but when Luka’s in there, they can’t play fast. To me, if he’s in better shape and they can play fast, that puts more pressure on the opposing team.”

This season Doncic averaged 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8 assists in 36.2 minutes per game as the Mavericks finished 13th in the Western Conference.
