The Boston Celtics small forward Jayson Tatum took the blame for his team’s embarrassing 111-109 loss to the Houston Rockets, the worst team in the Western Conference.
Tatum only scored 22 points on 21 field goal attempts, including a missed layup at the buzzer that would have forced overtime. The All-Star opened the game just 1-of-9 from the field and felt his lethargic play impacted his teammates.
“We picked it up kind of too late,” Tatum told reporters in Houston. “And I take the blame for that. I know I didn’t necessarily start the best and I feel like that kind of spread throughout the team.”
