Two former teammates faced off as the Lakers hosted the Knicks (108-112). D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle began their career with the Purple and Gold but have gone separate ways since.

Coincidentally, they scored 33 points each in this game and were the top scorers for their respective teams. After the game Russell talked about playing against his former teammate.

“I’m a fan of his game,” Russell said about Randle. “No relationship. We played together. We went our separate ways after that. It’s just been competitive energy ever since then…”

“That’s how I am with everybody. I’m not really friends with anybody, to be honest. On the court, it’s no love. Just trying to battle and try to get the win. Maybe shake hands after.”
