Damian Lillard joined an exclusive club of players who had had 70-pint games as he dropped a whopping 71 points in the Trail Blazers win over the Rockets.
He became just the 8th player to ever score 70 or more points in NBA history. The other seven players that accomplished this are Wilt Chamberlain, David Thompson, Elgin Baylor, David Robinson, Kobe Bryant Devin Booker and Donovan Mitchell.
After the game Lillard talked about he was able to score so many points. “I was super aggressive he whole first half,” the 32-year-old star said. “And then towards the end of the second quarter they started to play different types of defenses, but I had my mind made up that I was gonna keep attacking them regardless. I had it going.
“And in the third quarter they just sold out. I was bringing the ball up I think the first possession I wasn’t even at the half court they just ran a guy at me.
“When a team presents that type of defense, you got to just accept it and embrace it. And that’s where you got to depend on your teammates to take them out of that with that type of coverage.”
