When the Lakers traded Russell Westbrook to the Jazz, the speculations started on where the former NBA MVP will continue his career.

Paul George, his former teammate in Oklahoma City, publicly expressed support for Russ, saying that he would love to see him on the Clippers.

According to NBA insider Brian Windhorst, Los Angeles were initially against adding Westbrook, but George kept pushing the idea and eventually the Clippers made the move and signed him.

“The Clippers are pretty much admitting that Paul George drove this decision,” Windhorst said of the team’s signing of Russell Westbrook. “And from what I understand, they were internally against it at the start. “Paul pushed for it publicly and privately. Kawhi Leonard supported it. And they looked more into it, and they were like, ‘Well, there are some things he could potentially help us with.'”

Westbrook made his Clippers debut last night in a double-overtime loss against the Kings (175-176). The 34-year-old point guard started for his new team and finished the game with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 14 assists in 39 minutes of play.
