It is his 20th season in the NBA and until now LeBron James has never been traded. The four-time NBA champion has switched teams three times in his career – always signing with a team of his choice as a free agent.

This past summer James committed his future to the Lakers by signing a two-year contract extension that should keep him in Los Angeles until the end of the 2024-2025 season (last year is a player option).

There are growing rumors that the 38-year-old superstar is losing patience with the Lakers as the team is reluctant give up their two first-round picks to improve the team now and contend while James can still play at the highest level.

Even though the player denied such speculations on Twitter yesterday, other NBA teams are already preparing for a possibility that he will make a trade request this coming summer, according to Sean Deveney of Heavy.com.

James, who is used to making NBA Finals and competing for championships, has not had that opportunity in Los Angeles apart from the 2019-2020 ‘bubble’ year.

This is his first year in L.A. and so far Lakers failed to make the postseason twice and were eliminated in the first round of playoffs once. Currently the team is outside of the play-in zone – in the 12th place in the Western Conference.
