Following another Los Angeles Lakers loss this time around against the Miami Heat, LeBron James dished out a chunky statement in postgame regarding himself and the team’s current contending status.

In what could be words of reflection and frustration, James told reporters that he intends to finish his career on a winning note and still be able to compete for a championship.

“I’m a winner, and I want to win… playing basketball at this level just to be playing basketball, it’s just not in my DNA anymore,” James said following the 112-98 defeat.

“I don’t want to finish my career playing at this level, from a team aspect. I want to still be able to compete for championships because I know what I can still bring to any ballclub with the right pieces.”

The Heat handed the Lakers their fifth loss out of the last six games on Wednesday, with L.A. now dwelling with a 14-21 record. Their current standing in the West – 13th place – appears much distant yet for even at least a Play-in spot on the barbarous conference.

The Lakers were disastrous last season as they failed to meet expectations and eventually missed the postseason stage. While there might be glimpses of hope and optimism on their side since the start of this season, it appears that they might be heading to an unwanted position again.

Anthony Davis’s catastrophic downfall served as a major blow for the Lakers as they were trying to finally elevate on the league ladder this early December. In the midst of the best season of his career thus far, the All-Star big man suffered an unfortunate stress injury in his right foot with no timetable of return.

These cryptic remarks made by James may strongly suggest that he wishes for the club to be back holding stronger odds to win. With their coveted two future first-round picks carefully being kept in their treasure chest, the next few weeks and months would truly be enticing if the franchise will finally pull the trigger and make a move to enhance their state.

James will still be tied with the franchise until the 2024-25 season. It is truly a matter of time and desperation already for Los Angeles if they want to maximize their assets for another title contention – with the future hall of Famer still well-oiled and capable of big-time moments.
