Milwaukee Bucks team governor Marc Lasry is “actively looking” to sell his stake in the franchise, per insider Marc Stein.

Stein already reported earlier this week that Lasry may be “open” to selling his part to the team. As such, he pointed out this Wednesday that the businessman could opt to offer it to co-governor Wes Edens.

“Sources tell The Stein Line that Marc Lasry, who joined forces with Wes Edens to buy the Bucks from Sen. Herb Kohl in April 2014 for a reported $550 million, has been actively looking to sell his stake in the franchise.

“One emerging possibility, sources say, is Lasry selling his stake directly to Edens, who is the co-owner of Aston Villa in English soccer’s Premier League in addition to his role as co-owner of the Bucks.”

Valued by Forbes at $2.3 billion – 15th most lucrative amongst 30 NBA teams – last October, Lasry played a pivotal role as a co-owner in elevating the team’s value for almost 10 years of governing position.

Under his watch, the Bucks transformed into a powerhouse, thanks also to their generational luck of seizing Giannis Antetokounmpo’s all-time development. Since 2014, the Bucks have been in seven postseason appearances and won an NBA title in 2021.

With the franchise’s value continuing to rise, his decision to sell his stake can’t be more logical in terms of his financial growth.
