The Pelicans (18-8) extended their winning streak to seven games by defeating the Suns (16-11) for the second time a row.

Zion Williamson dropped game-high 35 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, leading New Orleans to the win on Sunday.

Twenty six games into the season, the Pelicans are currently sitting atop the Western Conference. While some might say that does not mean much, Williamson says that it’s big for his team.

Via Andrew Lopez of ESPN:

“We’re No. 1 in the West right now,” Williamson said. “I know to a lot of people that’s not a big deal because it’s still early in the season, but for us to have that ranking right now, that’s big. We want to not only hold on to it but build on it.”

The former number one draft pick is averaging 24.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 32.3 minutes per game this season.
