Boston Celtics franchise star Jayson Tatum will be shelved on Sunday against the Washington Wizards, Keith Smith of Spotrac reports.

Boston listed Tatum as out due to a left ankle sprain. The All-Star forward sustained the injury earlier this week in a loss against the Chicago Bulls, but went on to perform spectacularly against the Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings the following nights.

As the Celtics are comfortably holding a 15-4 sheet to lead the Eastern Conference, the move may serve as a rest and precautionary measure to preserve Tatum upon solid performances on their back-to-back wins.

The 24-year-old superstar-bound Tatum is currently averaging 30.5 markers, 7.9 boards, and 4.6 dimes in 47.7 percent shooting per 19 games.
