The Nets made a major move early in the season by firing the team’s head coach Steve Nash. There could be some roster changes coming as well.

Reportedly, Brooklyn held “cursory talks” with a Western Conference team about a potential team that would bring an experienced shooting to the Nets.

It appears that the team is open to the idea of trading a former number one draft pick Ben Simmons whose name came up in the talks. The 26-year-old point guard is not looking like his usual self this season as he is averaging 6.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 7.3 assists in 31.8 minutes per game.

So you can expect the Nets to pursue trade opportunities ahead of the February deadline. In the days before Saturday’s brutal loss to the Indiana Pacers, the Nets had been in cursory talks with one Western Conference team about a deal that would return a veteran shooter, per SNY sources. Ben Simmons’ name came up in the talks, sources say.
