The Philadelphia 76ers have granted big man Paul Reed a guaranteed $1.78MM contract for the 2022/23 season, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Though they could have assessed Reed until January, the Sixers leaned on guaranteeing Reed two months earlier. He’ll be a restricted free agent in 2023 if he’s extended a $2,228,276 qualifying offer.

Fresh from a three-year run in DePaul, Reed became the 58th overall pick of the 2020 draft. As such, he is averaging 3.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 7.5 minutes per contest in 64 games over two seasons.

He is expected to provide further assistance backing up Joel Embiid at the center position.
