The Boston Celtics have suspended Ime Udoka from his head coaching duties this upcoming 2022-2023 season, sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The Celtics released a statement with regards to the case of Udoka, citing that the suspension comes in “immediately” and the franchise’s decision about his future with them will be released at a later date.

Udoka, on his part, has accepted the decision of the authority and provided a personal apology with regards to the damage he dealt to his family and the Celtics organization.

As reported by Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports earlier, Udoka doesn’t intend to resign from his position, as he will wait from the decision of the Celtics brass.

It was revealed by Charania that Udoka had an improper consensual relationship with Boston’s female staffer, a violation of the team’s code of conduct

In his first year as the head coach last season, Udoka steered the Celtics to a spectacular NBA Finals finish, only to lose against the battle-tested Golden State Warriors in six games.
