Technology is changing the world as we know it. Constantly within the last 20 years, new tech has been constantly evolving and changing the way we interact with one another. Some speculate that the constant evolutions will drive social unrest while others believe it’s the only way forward.

What we know for sure is that technology has really shaped how our industries function in a very positive manner but how has technology shaped the Esports industry?

What Is Esports?

Esports in basic terms is the competition/tournament of video games. Let’s look at a popular game for esports in this case we shall look at League of Legends. LOL as many call it hosts an annual super tournament and professional LOL teams meet from around the globe at a large-scale venue where fans can either buy tickets to enjoy the atmosphere or enjoy the viewing from home via streaming services.

Live Streaming Tech

Live streaming technology has really shaped the Esports industry in a positive manner. Via live streaming services, the esports community were able to connect via live chat while watching their favourite game being played by professionals in competing teams. This also paved the way for gamers to Bet on esports live while streaming. This allowed for the Esports communities to grow and build up a fan base.

The Implementation Of AI

Nobody would have thought AI would have its uses in the gaming scene nor esports for that matter. Except for today, Ai is used as a data collecting tool to gather all the data from previous games and improve gaming strategies for teams or individuals depending on the game type. Ai has changed the gaming strategies across the globe and teams not utilising such tech are at a clear disadvantage.

The Hardware

Improving tech hardware allows game developers to increase better games for their fan base. Better graphics combined with smooth gameplay can be super demanding on pc’s or gaming consoles. The evolution in gaming hardware has drastically improved the way gaming is played. When gaming for fun hardware isn’t going to make such a difference. That being said users with better gaming hardware have a clear advantage over their competition, hence gaming competitions utilise the same pc properties for each of the team’s computers to offer a fair playing space. Pro gamers are only allowed a specific selection of mice and keyboards they can use since they do not offer a particular advantage but rather the comfort and preference of the said gamer.

Conclusion

It’s clear that evolving technologies have aside the esports industry and the countless gamers that take part either as the pros in the tournaments or the fans’ support. Wether through the streaming services we have today, new gaming hardware upgrades or the data gathering tools AI have revolutionised.

Like any sport, esports creates its own fields between players and also rivalries, although none as heated as Jason Whitlock on Lebron James there’s no technology currently available to help solve rivalries and the chances of that tech being developed are quite low too.
