Nike founder Phil Knight and Los Angeles Dodgers part-owner Alan Smolinisky reportedly proposed over $2 billion of amount to avail the Portland Trail Blazers, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

But in a statement, the team’s ownership group made it clear that the franchise remains not for sale.

Wojnarowski stated that both Knight and Smolinisky will remain aggressive in pursuing the control of the Blazers from the trust being headed by Jody Allen. Knight has deep ties in Oregon, the state of Portland, wherein the Nike headquarters are standing exactly at the suburb of Beaverton.

Moreover, the attempt of Knight to purchase the team is a plan to keep the Trail Blazers franchise in Portland on a long-term picture.

Based on Forbes in 2021, the Blazers have a $2.05 billion value.
