After a fruitful season, Caris LeVert is certainly craving more success with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
LeVert told Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com that he wants to stay as a Cav and ink a contract extension, but that can only be determined if the franchise and himself will meet at the fairest deal this offseason.
“This is where I want to be,” said LeVert. “They know that. The front office knows that. My teammates know that. I don’t know what’s going to happen with that contract extension, but I know where my heart is, I know where I want to be. We’ll see what happens going forward.”
After being dealt by the Indiana Pacers in a midseason trade, LeVert only saw limited exposure in Cleveland due to a nagging sprained foot. He only suited up for 19 games wearing the wine and gold gears, averaging 13.6 points, 3.9 assists, and 3.4 boards in 43 percent shooting.
At age 27 and having one more season left in his contract worth $18.7 million, LeVert is a fitting piece on the promising timeline of the Cavs for years to come. A swingman who possesses enough length and great body frame, his presence, scoring skillset, and improving defense have meshed perfectly with Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen.
As the young Cleveland team remains hungry and focused on the future, having a long-term partnership with LeVert is an interesting subject to look into their side this summer.
