Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo has discussed the infamous altercation between teammate Jimmy Butler and head coach Erik Spoelstra that also saw Udonis Haslem get involved. The player and coach got into it during a loss to the Golden State Warriors two weeks ago, producing one of the most bizarre on-court confrontations ever.

Speaking to former NBA sharpshooter JJ Redick on his The Old Man & The Three podcast, Adebayo revealed that the team was over it pretty quickly. The power forward/center said tempers flared because “we were losing and not playing to our standard.”

He also claimed that such dust-ups are nothing new to the Heat and that, sometimes, players get so aggressive, Spoelstra has to call off practice.

“That’s a regular practice day to us, we talk shit to each other all the time in practice,” he added. “That’s how competitive our practice is, to the point where Spo will have to call off practice.”

We are probably never going to get the juicy details from anyone in the Heat organization, that’s just how tight-lipped they are when it comes to team affairs.

Meanwhile, the Heat have clinched the No.1 spot in the Eastern Conference, locking it up after both the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics lost on Thursday night.
