Houston Rockets head coach Stephen Silas can only deliver high praise towards their prized rookie, Alperen Sengun.

After claiming the former Turkish League superstar in the last NBA Draft via a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Rockets remain amazed at Sengun’s progress and uncanny skillset – even fortified that the young big man is set to gear up in the 2022 Rising Stars Challenge later this month.

Right at the pregame of his team’s impending matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, Silas stated some words to ponder for the 19-year-old center.

“We didn’t know what we were getting,” Silas said on Sengun, via Salman Ali of ClutchPoints. “The word on the street was he was good, but we didn’t know that he would be one of the Top 12 rookies this season.”

So far, Sengun is averaging 8.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists in almost 18 minutes of exposure. A post-up powerhouse who is projected to become a prototype modern big, his talent and potential to become an unstoppable force are things to behold in the future – as he was even trained recently by Houston’s finest and one of the all-time greats in Hakeem Olajuwon.

With Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. also building up their promising structure, H-town is for sure optimistic in this rebuilding process and even excited for years to come.
