Joel Embiid has been in a roll lately leading the Philadelphia 76ers from win to win. The superstar big had another big night on Tuesday night, putting up 42 points in the Sixers 107-117 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Embiid has put up 4 straight 35+points and 10+ rebounds performances, making him only the 4th player in almost 45 years to do so. The 27-year-old joins the likes of Shaquille O’Neal, Karl Malone, and Anthony Davis for the same.

Also, he tied franchise legend Allen Iverson for the most 25+ points outings in at least 15 consecutive games. Embiid was unstoppable during the second half, where, the Sixers were able to down the undermanned Pelicans.

“Overall, I think they couldn’t guard him,” Furkan Korkmaz said on Embiid during the post-game presser. “You don’t have to be so smart to say that. I think whenever he has the ball, he feels like he knows what he’s doing. He doesn’t rush, he reads the game, he reads the floor.”

“Especially in the second half, he knows that we expect some push from him and we’re also going to go with him. I think in the second half he was the one who set the tone, but I think Tobias stepped up huge, too. Those two really took the game.”

Embiid is averaging a whopping 29 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. He had the most dominant week of the season, putting up 40 points, 11.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists between 17 and 23 January.

He scored more than 30 points in all four games during that stint with Sixers going 2-2. Since Jan.1, the Sixers won nine of their last 12 games with Embiid leading in scoring in all of these games.

Embiid and co. will try to add up to their two-game winning streak in a tough matchup against the in-form Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.
