Draymond Green was ready to play alongside Klay Thompson for the first time in 941 days, however the veteran forward was a late pre-game scratch for the Warriors, due to a calf tightness.

Moments before the Warriors tipped off against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Chase Center, the team announced that Green experienced tightness in his left calf.

The point-forward still participated in the team’s pre-game introduction and was part of the opening tip of the game. The Cavs won the tip and Green immediately ran to foul Darius Garland, exiting the game for Juan Toscano-Anderson.

Green remained on the bench, watching Klay Thompson returning to action after two and a half years. Thompson received a thunderous ovation from the crowd at Chase Center.

While Green definitely would want to be part of the action in Thompson’s first game back, the Warriors decided to be better safe than sorry. It’s still unclear what the situation with Green is and if he will miss more games.
