Zion Williamson has been out with a recovery from a foot surgery since the offseason started. New Orleans Pelicans are hoping they will have their star available at some point this season.

However, Zion suffered a serious setback that led the Pelicans to announce that Williamson will not be participating in the team’s activities for the time being.

Williamson had been cleared to participate in full team activities on Nov. 26. A week later, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Williamson had suffered a setback.

The 21-year-old fractured his foot over the summer and has not played an NBA game since May. He averaged 27.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game last season.

New Orleans has a tough start to the season having an 8-20 record. The Pelicans are at the bottom of the Southwest Division and the NBA standings, as we are moving towards the first third of the NBA season.
