Los Angeles Lakers were unable to continue their winning streak on Thursday night vs Memphis, despite the fact that LeBron James posted his first triple-double for the season.

LeBron ended the night with 20 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds and earned his 100th career triple-double to join an elite company and become just the fifth NBA player with 100 triple-doubles or more.

Only Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, Jason Kidd, and Russell Westbrook had done so before James. Yet, James’ milestone was not enough for the Lakers, who fell to a Grizzlies’ squad devastated by injuries and COVID-19.

Despite one of the easiest opening schedules in the NBA, the Lakers are now 13-13 through 26 games. They have been through a significant number of ups and downs through the first third of the season.

With LeBron missing 11 games since the start of the season, even the best of the veteran superstar cannot lift a mediocre team like the Lakers this season.
