Russell Westbrook had a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics at Staples Center. The 33-year point guard was the second top scorer for the winners, behind LeBron James, who finished the game with 30 points.
After the game, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel was asked to talk about what Westbrook has been bringing to the team most reliably. “I’d say pace and and paint attack, you know what I mean?” he said. “Obviously the energy and the edge that he plays with is always good for your group.
“He’s relentless in attacking the basket and however the defense is guarding him, they try to sag and they try to get under and he still finds a way. If he’s touching the paint and making great decision when he gets there, it gives us a lot of offensive support.”
