A strong second half performance secured the win for the Los Angeles Lakers against the Sacramento Kings. Frank Vogel’s team was down by 9 points after the first half but ended up winning by 25.

According to Lakers head coach, he used the halftime to ignite his team. “Every now and then, a coach has to light a fire under his team, and today was one of those games,” Vogel said postgame.

“We weren’t giving the necessary effort in transition defense and with our pick and roll coverages which we talked specifically about tightening the screws on all day – at shoot around, pre-game. It wasn’t there in the first half. Sometimes you have to let them hear about it. It was a spirit at halftime and those guys responded.”

The Lakers improved to 12-11 while the Kings dropped to 8-14 after this game. The purple and gold are set to face their city rivals the Clippers next.
