Unicaja Malaga and Joventut Badalona had their chances of dethroning the league giants Barcelona and Real Madrid and advancing to the 2015 Copa del Rey final in Gran Canaria.

Unfortunately though, it did not quite go that way.

BARCA BEST LEAGUE LEADERS

Barcelona stepped up their game in the second half and triumphed 87-79 over Liga Endesa leaders Unicaja Malaga.

Trailing 39-34 at half-time, the Catalan giants moved up the gears offensively and had answers at the other end for any Malaga attack. The game was tied at 59-59 going into the final period and from there, Barca continued where they had left off in the third.

DeShaun Thomas led Barcelona with 13 points with Mario Hezonja adding 12. Mindaugas Kuzminskas led Malaga with 13.

REAL TOPPLE JOVENTUT

Real Madrid ensured a fifth Copa del Rey final in the last six years with Barcelona after thrashing Joventut Badalona 100-83 in the second semi-final.

Sergio Llull led Madrid with 19 points with Sergio Rodriguez dishing 7 assists to go with 15 points as they held Badalona to just 8 points in the third quarter, allowing them to pull away, en route to a routine win.

Sitapha Savane paced Joventut with 14.
