In a late overtime thriller at Staples Center, Malik Monk and the Lakers stood tall and clinched a big overtime win vs the Heat (117-120).

It was a battle from start to finish, with 14 ties and 33 lead changes. With Monk leading the way and making clutch plays, the Lakers sealed the deal in overtime. Tyler Herro missed two crucial three-pointers in the final seconds and the Heat came up short.

Monk went for a season-high 27 points for the winners, who had five more players in double figures. Bam Adebayo (28 points) and Herro (27 points) were the best players for the losing squad. For Miami, Jimmy Butler played just 12 minutes, due to injury.

In the final seconds of regulation, Russell Westbrook (25 points, 12 rebounds, 14 assists) had the chance to give his team the win. However, he missed the three-pointer and the game went into overtime (112-112).

The Lakers have now won two straight and improved to 7-5. Meanwhile, the Heat have lost three of their last four and dropped to 7-4.
