EuroLeague Round 8 tipped off on Thursday, with Armani Milano defeating FC Barcelona and reaching the top of the standings.

In a hard-fought battle at Mediolanum Forum, the Italians stood tall and broke the tie with the Catalans (75-70). The visitors took control with a 0-14 run, but the hosts responded and kept the lead until the end. An 8-0 run of their own and some clutch plays in crunch time let Armani seal the deal.

Following their victory, Armani climbed to the top of the table, at 7-1. Meanwhile, FC Barcelona is now second, at 6-2.

In Moscow, Fenerbahce stunned CSKA and escaped with a big road win (82-91). Nando de Colo scored 11 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter and helped the Turks snap a three-game losing streak.

Fenerbahce improved to 3-5 and came closer to the playoff zone. On the other hand, CSKA dropped to 4-4 and has now lost three straight.

Crvena Zvezda crushed Panathinaikos at home and put an end to its four-losing streak (81-48). The Serbians were dominant from start to finish and handed the “Greens” their heaviest loss in the EuroLeague this century.

Zvezda improved to 3-5 in the standings, whereas Panathinaikos has won only twice in the first eight games (2-6).

In the last game of Day 1, ASVEL Villeurbanne edged UNICS Kazan at Astroballe and extended its winning streak to three games. The French led by double digits and endured the comeback of the Russians to seal the deal (85-82).

ASVEL moved to second in the standings, at 6-2. For their part, UNICS dropped to 3-4.
