New Orleans Pelicans have yet to see Zion Williamson on the court this season. The Pelicans’ superstar is rehabbing from foot surgery.

However, the latest updates are that the plan is for him to get another round of scans in 2-3 weeks. What’s more concerning is that Zion Williamson looked out of shape during a workout recently.

ESPN analyst and former NBA player JJ Redick shared his thoughts on Zion Williamson’s situation during a conference call, via Ian Begley of SNY.

“ZION HAS TO BE IN BETTER SHAPE. AND I THINK IF ZION’S OUT ON THE COURT WITH BRANDON (INGRAM) AND THE YOUNG NUCLEUS THEY HAVE, THERE’S A LOT TO BE EXCITED ABOUT IF I WAS A PELICANS FAN.”

Williamson was the leading superstar player for New Orleans the past season, averaging 27.0 points per game and dominating his opponents in the paint.

If Zion can remain healthy, he can certainly be the new face of the Pelicans franchise alongside Brandon Ingram, who currently is also out with a hip injury.

Since the start of the season, the Pelicans went 1-7 in their first eight games of the 2021-22 regular season.
