New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to a two-year extension with veteran center Jonas Valanciunas, ESPN reports. The extension is worth $30.1 million.
Valanciunas, who joined the Pelicans this past offseason via trade, had one year left in his current contract. The Pelicans acquired Valanciunas from Memphis in the deal that sent Eric Bledsoe and Steven Adams to Memphis.
He’s coming off the most productive season of his career playing for the Memphis Grizzlies, registering 17.1 points and 12.5 rebounds while shooting a career-best 59.2% overall in just 28.3 minutes a game.
The Pelicans have tied the Lithuanian center for the next three seasons. New Orleans will now focus on the opening night of the season Wednesday, where they face the Philadelphia 76ers.
