Bayern Munich haven’t had the start the team would like in the EuroLeague, as Andrea Trinchieri’s side succumbed to three defeats in the first three games of the competition.
The Bavarians will look to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss to UNICS Kazan Tuesday, where they had the lead for three quarters, but they could not close the game.
“We can’t appear like this again, that can’t be our face,” said coach Trinchieri. “We have to improve against a team with a lot of quality in many things, especially in the basic attitude, in the defense and in the rebound behavior, which was a key in Kazan.”
Bayern’s start in the competition wasn’t the best, however two of the first three games were winnable, but the offensive execution was missing during the final moments of the games.
In each of their two road games so far this season, Bayern held a lead of 9 or more points in the second-half, but ended up on the losing end both times, first in Tel Aviv and then in Kazan.
Darrun Hilliard knows well that his team has to do more in order to win Thursay. The St. Petersburg club is one of the top defenses in the league, allowing just 70.0 points through three games.
“Zenit is also a very well coached team,” says FCBB guard Darrun Hilliard, who has moved from Moscow. “Zenit have some great players, even if Napier is still injured. But now it’s about us: That wasn’t the start into the EuroLeague that we wanted. We have to fight now and come back.”
