FC Barcelona and Olympiacos were unstoppable in their EuroLeague opening games on Friday night.

The Catalans dominated ALBA Berlin at home and made the first step en route to another EuroLeague Final Four. Nikola Mirotic was perfect, on 8/8 shooting, and FC Barcelona decimated the Germans (96-64).

For their part, the “Reds” played very well on both ends from start to finish and crushed Baskonia at home (75-50). On the other hand, the Basques couldn’t fight back and suffered a painful loss.

Friday action also saw Fenerbahce survive a late thriller against Crvena Zvezda to earn the 61-57 home win. This was the first victory for the Turks under new head coach Sasha Djordjevic.

At the same time, Zenit Saint Petersburg endured the late come-back of UNICS Kazan to defeat their Russian rivals by one (69-70). UNICS closed the game on a 15-6 run, but came up short and suffered the first loss in the competition.

Following a great three-point shooting night (11/23), ASVEL Villeurbanne defeated Zalgiris Kaunas and protected its home court (88-76). The French trailed only once in the game and sealed the deal from beyond the arc.

FC Barcelona and Olympiacos are on top of the standings, after their emphatic victories in the opening round of the EuroLeague.
