Michael Porter Jr. is eligible for a rookie scale extension, with the promising forward and the Denver Nuggets being involved in negotiation the last few weeks.

Porter Jr. said he does not worry about his extension in a recent interview with Mike Singer of ‘The Denver Post‘. Porter remains focused on the basketball side of things.

“It’s a thing that’s on the radar, but, you know, I try to let my agent do his job,” Porter said. “I’m in the loop. I’m talking with my agent, talking with Tim (Connelly), those guys, but for me, it’s God’s time, and when it’s supposed to happen, it’ll happen. I’m not going to try to rush it. All I’m gonna worry about is getting ready, getting geared up for the season.

“… I love basketball,” Porter added. “It’s not too stressful for me about the money stuff. Of course that’s part of it. I’m just trying to stay in the gym and get better.”

Porter is coming off a great year with the Nuggets, becoming a steady offensive option for a contending team. In just his second real season in the NBA, Porter averaged 19.0 points per game on 44.5 percent shooting from deep.

With Jamal Murray still recovering from a serious injury, Porter is expected to become more involved in the Denver’s offence during the regular season.

After a couple of seasons that Porter faced adversity due to various injuries, the promising forward is ready to make some noise with the Denver Nuggets this year.
