NBA insider Marc Stein made an interesting statement regarding the contract extension Frank Vogel recently agreed to with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers didn’t reveal details of the extension, but, according to Stein, Vogel extended his contract only for one more season.

“The Lakers did finally grant Vogel his long overdue contract extension on Aug. 6 to ensure that he would not enter this season as a lame duck with an expiring deal, but the ongoing lack of clarity about the extension specifics has led to the presumption in coaching circles that only one season has been tacked on despite the championship Vogel won in his first season in L.A,” Stein reports.

Frank Vogel led the Lakers to the 2020 NBA championship. However, the multiple time champions got eliminated in the first round last season.

With that in mind, this year may determine the future of Frank Vogel on the team’s bench, with the Lakers emerging as title favorites after the Russell Westbrook trade.
